National Musical Theatre Summer School poster

For Youth (7-13 years) and Pre-Professionals (14+ years)

Gathering together young performers Australia-wide to work and perform with the nation’s leading musical theatre artists

This exclusive summer program culminates in a Gala Showcase Performance at the Kingston Arts Centre Theatre, featuring the Summer School students alongside some of Australia’s best musical theatre performers

From 17 - 21 January 2022 AMTA’s National Musical Theatre Summer School will assemble Australia's most experienced and respected musical theatre professionals in Melbourne to work and perform alongside Australia’s up-and-coming musical theatre talent.

Over five days of workshops and masterclasses participants will be able to hone their musical theatre skills under the guidance and instruction of some of the country's leading musical theatre actors, casting directors, choreographers, musical directors, theatre makers and directors. The full week of training will conclude with a Showcase Performance, in which the students will get the chance to perform alongside some of Australia’s best musical theatre performers.

We hope your young singer, dancer and/or actor can come and join us at AMTA’s National Musical Theatre Summer School – to reignite, reconnect and relish in, a week of skill-defining and fun workshops with the who’s who of Australian musical theatre.

“Your workshops are SO valuable Queenie. Sophie has done two of your workshops and the information has DIRECTLY helped her get callbacks in auditions, and obviously to win roles as well!...She had a good run - three professional productions (Annie orphan, Chitty as Jemima, and now in Sound of Music as Louisa)”
W. Moman, Parent – Brisbane
(Sophie was cast in the Brisbane seasons of Annie, as an Orphan, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, as Jemima, and The Sound of Music, as Louisa)

Neither the Australian Musical Theatre Academy (AMTA), nor any of our staff, are in any way connected to, or associated with, or endorsed or sponsored by any Australian production company and/or promoter and/or their productions and are not involved in any way in the casting of such productions. Through our independent, highly successful workshops we’ve been teaching children and adults the skills involved in auditioning for professional musicals and preparing them to take leading roles in professional shows, for the past 18 years. Obviously, we can’t, and won’t ever, guarantee that anyone will be cast in a musical, however many children and adults who participate in our workshops are subsequently cast in professional musicals.
