Admission into The Musical Theatre Intensive Weekly Masterclasses is by audition only. Upon meeting the skill requirements of the course, places will be offered to auditionees on a first come, first served basis. As there are only 10 places available in each masterclass, we encourage performers to submit their auditions early to avoid disappointment.
We also encourage applications from performers who cannot attend all of the 20 masterclasses or from performers who wish to apply, if there are remaining places in a class, after the course begins. Each masterclass is structured to allow participants to film their work beforehand for the tutor to review during the session and every class is recorded, enabling students to catch up on missed sessions and receive feedback on their work.
Accessibility:
Accessibility and diversity are important to AMTA. We will be seeking out and encouraging enrolments from First Nations and BIPOC artists, LGBTIQ+ artists, body and age diverse artists, artists with a disability, and culturally and linguistically diverse artists.
We also have payment plan options available to financially challenged artists and occasionally we’re able to offer scholarships. If financial difficulties are a barrier to you enrolling in the course, please get in contact with AMTA’s Artistic Director, Queenie van de Zandt at queenie@amta.net.au.
AMTA is committed to bringing world-class, theatrical training to all of Australia, especially regional areas. Therefore, we hold a select number of places in each of our classes for talented performers who live outside Sydney or Melbourne to join us online through Zoom. We encourage and welcome auditions from performers around Australia.
To facilitate participants learning at their own pace and not missing out on a masterclass due to illness, each class will be filmed through Zoom and all participants will have access to the recording for the duration of the course.
If you have any access or support requirements in order to participate fully, please let us know when you apply, by emailing us at admin@amta.net.au, to ensure that we can arrange any reasonable adjustments should your audition be successful.
