About The Adult Summer Workshops

The Adult Summer Workshops combines two of AMTA’s standout workshops for professional and aspiring creative artists and performers: Advance Audition Technique for Musical Theatre Workshop and Create Your Dream Career Workshop.

The full weekend of workshops will be led by AMTA’s Head Honcho, musical theatre star and Australia’s leading teacher of audition technique for musical theatre, Queenie van de Zandt. Over the past 20 years Queenie has helped hundreds of her students gain lead roles in shows such as Shrek, Ragtime, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Come from Away, Book of Morman, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Pricilla: Queen of the Desert, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Sound of Music, Grease, Matilda, Singin’ in the Rain, and Les Miserables, to name just a few. It is this success that has seen her hailed in the press as a ‘musical theatre star-maker’.

Each workshop will run independently but work best in tandem to create a strong foundation for your successful creative career in 2020.

Advanced Audition Technique for Musical Theatre

Having studied audition technique for over 20 years and with 30+ years as one of Australia’s leading ladies of musical theatre and cabaret, Queenie has developed a unique audition practice, that has helped her students audition successfully for drama school and commercial musicals as well as helped professional performers who feel ‘stuck in the chorus’ to make the leap to being cast in lead roles.

In this workshop you will get a rare chance to work one-on-one with Queenie, as she teaches you her unique audition practice and then puts it into practice as she directs your audition songs.

You will leave the workshop:

The Advanced Audition Technique for Musical Theatre Workshop will transform your audition experience.

“I highly recommend [it] to anyone serious in learning how to audition for a musical and what the professional panels are looking for in a performer’s audition.”
Darren Yap
Director (Mamma Mia, Miracle City, Miss Saigon)

Create Your Dream Career

Through brain-storming ideas, thought-provoking writing exercises, and building the cornerstone beliefs of creative play, Create Your Dream Career will empower you to become a proactive and creative artist. “Queenie is such an incredibly creative and proactive performer in her own career, who really has the ability to inspire people to look laterally and find new ways of getting where they want to be; she’s the perfect teacher for this course.”
