This workshop is tailored to young people who are interested in a career in the arts, who are auditioning for amateur and professional shows and who are interested auditioning for a performing arts course when graduating school.
Audition Bootcamp for Teens is run by musical theatre star and Australia’s leading teacher of audition technique for musical theatre, Queenie van de Zandt. Having studied audition technique for over 20 years, Queenie has developed a unique audition practice, that has helped her former students gain lead roles in shows such as Kinky Boots, Matilda, and The Book of Mormon. It is this success that has recently seen her hailed in the press as a ‘musical theatre star-maker’.
In Audition Bootcamp for Teens participants are taught Queenie’s unique audition practice, how to audition successfully, to choose great audition pieces, to create a character, to confidently analyse a scene or song, and how to take the audition panel on a journey by turning a monologue or song into a performance.
Participants will be given information and reference material on the audition process and will have first-hand experience of practicing the skills taught during the masterclass, through group exercises. In the afternoon, the core tutor will show participants how to incorporate the skills they’ve learnt through the performance of a group number.
